The "NewDOS Plus Documentation" for the Model 1 dated 03/15/79 was scanned and converted to a text based Word 97 document using OCR software. The document has been formatted nearly identical to the original manual.

NewDOS+ was really patches and additional system files and programs to make TRSDOS 2.1 into NewDOS+. This document describes what the patches fixed and how to use the new features added. Not only did "Apparat" do a great job fixing errors in TRSDOS but this manual had the fewest spelling and grammar errors of any manual I have yet OCRed. Apparat really to pride in what they did.

I never had this information back in the TRS-80 days so didn't know the reasons for TRSDOS 2.1's destructive nature. Reading the patch information gives the reader an idea of just how flaky TRSDOS really was. Now I know why disk files would disappear and get cross-allocated and how files and even entire disks became unreadable.

Both the Word 97 and .PDF format files are available for download.

NewDOS Plus Documentation (132k)

Many thanks to "Skipp May" for sending me a copy of this rare document. Like so much of the TRS-80 documentation still available it was about a 4th generation (or more) copy. Since it was only 32 pages I decided to OCR it to preserve the valuable information it contained. It took 3 days to OCR and proofread it to correct the 20% OCR errors due to the copy quality (I was impressed the OCR software did as well as it did).
