The coins struck at Sydney cannot be distinguished from those struck at Melbourne.
All the 1925 shillings in my collection have a die anomaly which looks very like
an overdate. Clarke2 was cautious
in his description:
"The 1925 shilling frequently has a die flaw which has been called a re-engraved 5 over 3."
|
Curved-base lettering on reverse legend. 141 rim denticles. No reported varieties. |
|
Enlargement of the date. Note the protrusion from the top left side of the 5. This
could very easily be the top part of a 3, supporting the theory that the 1925 shilling
is an overdated coin. |
