All Australian pennies dated 1925 were minted in Melbourne. The official mintage
in 1925 was 940,800 but according to John Sharples24
only 117,600 pieces actually bore the 1925 date. The remaining 832,200 were struck
in Sydney in its last year of production. The Sydney mint simply used up its supply
of 1924 dies.
A minor variety illustrated here is the "broken N".

The picture on the left shows a fairly minor variety of the 1925 penny. The first
leg of the second N has a gap in the middle and is probably caused by a filled die
but may be the result of a damaged punch. |
