There are no known varieties of the 1944 and 1945 Melbourne coins. If the 1942
and 1943 florins are any guide then there may be some variations in the position
of the mint mark on the 1944 florins struck in San Francisco. So far I have not
seen any but with just one specimen to study that is not really surprising. Clarke
reports a variety where the mint mark has no serifs and Dean reports one with a
filled S similar to that of the 1943.
