To enter a character in a document, hold down the à ÃAltÄ Ä key, then type the appropriate number on the numeric keypad. à ÃOtherÄ Ä ÃÃPhantom Space, Phantom RuboutÄÄ Ã ÃWordStarÄ Ä may allow you to print special characters (for example, a paragraph sign or cents sign) by using the phantom space command (^PF) or the phantom rubout command (^PG) in a document. For your printer, the phantom space character is: , and the phantom rubout character is: . ÃÃSwitching to Draft ModeÄÄ Dot matrix printer drivers allow switching from NLQ (near letter quality) mode to draft mode for faster printing. ÃÃMicrospace JustificationÄÄ Ã ÃWordStarÄ Ä allows microspace justification, if your printer supports it, to produce evenly spaced words in justified text. Microspacing spreads the white space between words (and sometimes between the letters of each word) as evenly as possible. à ÃLooking At This File OnscreenÄ Ä If you want to see the embedded commands that produced the text you are now reading, follow these steps: 1 At the Opening Menu, press à ÃDÄ Ä to edit a document. 2 At the prompt for filename, type à Ãprint.tstÄ Ä and press à ÃEnterÄ Ä. Notice that the text onscreen includes some characters that don't appear in the printed copy. For example, a heading line is identified by the dot command à Ã.heÄ Ä.
