PRO8510.COM by E.C. WEBER 361 North 25th Street Louisville, KY 40212 PRO8510.COM is a simple assembly language program which will activate the various features of the C. Itoh Prowriter, Model 8510, printer. It might also work with the NEC 8023/8025, the DMP-85, the PMC-8510, and the TEC 8500R. These all use codes which are similar to the C.Itoh but I do not have access to any of them for testing. The program is invoked at the CP/M prompt by typing: d:PRO8510 where d: is the drive designation. A menu will be presented; simply press the key which corresponds to the feature you want. The menu will re-appear to allow you to choose any additional features. For example, assume you want the printer to print in elite with double strike. At the first appearance of the menu, press <2> to set elite; at the second appearance of the menu, press <4> to turn double strike on. At the third appearance of the menu, press to return to CP/M with the printer set to print in elite double-strike. Pressing <0> allows the setting of the left margin. This is handy for listing BASIC programs or other documents where you need some room to punch binder holes in the paper. After pressing <0>, the program will ask for the left margin. The printer codes as designed by the manufacturer require that this MUST be a three digit number. Examples: Desired Margin Number to be typed ------------------------------------------------------- 0 000 5 005 10 010 25 025 50 050 ------------------------------------------------------- You should also set the pitch (elite, pica, or compresed) and turn elongated mode on or off BEFORE setting the margin. Pressing at the menu will cause the word "TEST" to be printed so that you can see if the results are what you wanted.
